Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan in Bangalore calls for application for an
ART PROJECT
ART PROJECT
Re-looking Gender
Break free from the binary! In association with Sandbox Collective, we are happy to announce an open call for our latest project, Re-looking Gender: An arts project that invites artists and others to send in applications that take a fresh, innovative and new look at subjects and content with reference to gender issues and equality.
In the present era, while most of us are still negotiating the idea, space and issues concerning gender, this project hopes that artists will break away from stereotypes (or use the stereotypes as springboards) to find fresh ways to ask questions, raise issues, or tell stories. This project is not about bashing traditionally privileged genders, but a quest for new perspectives. To quote Emma Watson's immortalized speech at the UN, "It's time that we all see gender as a spectrum instead of two sets of opposing ideals."
Your application should include name, bio, contact details, examples of/links to recent relevant work. And a text (fewer than 500 typed words) on your proposed project. Projects may include (but are not limited to) fiction, non-fiction, poetry, film, theater, music, visual arts, photography, installations, drawings or dance.
Mail your applications to: collective.sandbox@gmail.com.
An independent panel of eminent individuals from the arts will short-list the applications and the selected applicants will be informed on June 30, 2015. Short-listed participants will present their work in Bangalore in August 2015 (date TBA). All short-listed participants will receive a token amount towards the creation of their work.
For interviews and further details, please contact Nimi Ravindran: 9611695270.
