ABOUT MELT TRIO
Two years ago the Trio, Meyer-Baumgärtner-Meyer from Berlin astounded laymen and experts equally. The brothers Peter and Bernhard Meyer on guitars and bass, and drummer Moritz Baumgärtner invented a sound that boldly yet humbly overrode all established concepts of jazz improvisation, alternative rock, ambient and experience of nature translated to sound, but even surpassed all known syntheses, avantgardisms and overlappings. A sound that unfolded its bouquet light-years away from any crossover. In free flight the three Berliners betook themselves from the known galaxies to a new sound-quadrant, that gets by without any exhibitionism. The abysmally overrated solo in jazz cannot be found here. To Meyer-Baumgärtner-Meyer it was all about degrees of density, states of matter and atmospheres. The group-conducive restraint of the three individual masters is exactly what accounts for the trio’s unique charm. And what was the name of their first album? “Melt.”

DAILY REMINDER | BSAP TALK BY LUBNA SARWATH | CONNECTING WITH WATER BODIES | 15 NOVEMBER 2016

Dear Friends,

Goethe-Zentrum Hyderabad is pleased to invite you to the BSAP Talk by Lubna Sarwath.

BSAP Talk by Lubna Sarwath
Connecting with Water Bodies in Your Vicinities
Wednesday, 16 November 2016
6:30pm, Hamburg Hall GZH

Entry: Free & Open to All

ABOUT THE TALK
Our city Hyderabad is home to water bodies in which senior citizens claim to have swam and fished.  If so, which of water bodies can the present generation and the coming, swim and fish in?  Encroachments, Change of Land Use in name of development, Sewage-Chemical-Garbage-Pharma pollution in name of industrialization, Cultural immersions in name of religion have all rendered our water bodies shrinking and stinking. Lifeline thus turns into Hazard.  While quality of lakes gets abysmal by the day and the number of lakes keeps dwindling in each official list, it is up to the citizens to reverse the trend.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Lubna Sarwath is Co-Convenor for “Save Our Urban Lakes (SOUL)”. Also, she holds a Ph.D. in Islamic Economics and is a visiting lecturer for PhD students at Trisakti Unviersity in Jakarta, Indonesia. Beyond national borders she works as a reviewer and editorial assistant for “Humanomics”, a journal on Economics by Emerald Publications, UK. In urban slums she conducts sessions on “Personality Development & Confidence Building through Ethics in one’s Behavioral conduct”, where Lubna Sarwath exhorts for ethical conduct as a culture for governance and identity for individual.

THE GHOSTS IN OUR MACHINE
Vegan Film Screening
Saturday, 12 November 2016
6:30pm Hamburg Hall, GZH
Entry: Free & Open to All

Director: Liz Marshall, Documentary, Canada (92 min), 2013

With the exception of our companion animals and the wild and stray species within our urban environments, we experience animals daily only as the food, clothing, animal tested goods and entertainment we make of them. This moral dilemma is largely hidden from our view.

THE GHOSTS IN OUR MACHINE illuminates the lives of individual animals living within and rescued from the machine of our modern world. Through the heart and photographic lens of animal rights photojournalist Jo-Anne McArthur, audiences become intimately familiar with a cast of non-human animals. From undercover investigations to joyful rescue missions, in North America and in Europe, each photograph and story is a window into global animal industries: Food, Fashion, Entertainment and Research. THE GHOSTS IN OUR MACHINE charts McArthur’s efforts to bring wider attention to a topic that most of humankind strives hard to avoid.
Are non-human animals property to be owned and used, or are they sentient beings deserving of rights?
